here’s a link buried on this website www.mtmeadows.com that, had I been
close to retirement, would have afforded me an opportunity to change my
life.
Mountain Meadows is a superb community in Ashland. The community has a
fine reputation, as witnessed by all its design awards. And it is in a
city that’s on multiple lists as one of the best places to retire in
America.
The other day I found and
scrolled around the Mountain Meadows’ Webpage. There, above its numerous

The landscaping is perfectly trim. The architectural style is Craftsman.
Along with the rental, the web site explains, come privileges. Mountain
Meadows has a restaurant, clubhouse, library, indoor pool, spa,
woodshop, and fitness center. It has a community garden and its own
4-acre creek-side park. The Mountain Meadows’ social calendar lists over
25 separate activities that are regularly scheduled—from Tai Chi to
watching films, from shopping excursions, a book club or travel groups
to workshops in art and crafts. Mountain |

Never have I seen a private retirement community willing to welcome new residents on a trial, rental basis. What a novel idea. Five units were on the current list for rent, one conventional home and four condominiums. The 3 bedroom home was around 1700 sq. feet. Three of the condos each had 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and were close to 1100 sq. feet. One condo had 3 bedrooms 2 baths and was about 1600 sq. feet. Two of them could even be rented furnished. Imagine being able to give retirement a trial, in Ashland, in one of these beautiful homes.

I learned all this by looking at their web
site. I was equally impressed when I visited in person. The more I learned
about this community, the more appealing it was. I learned the community is
self governed and has a non-profit status. I also learned ownership there means full ownership, with
benefits of resulting equity gains. I saw the beautiful craftsmanship in the homes.
This, definitely, is a community that
deserves awards. It’s intelligently designed and functions smoothly. And
now, knowing about Mountain Meadows’ rentals, I feel almost liberated
from the dread I’ve anticipated when I finally do decide the when’s and
where’s of my own retirement.
